In his lecture on climate change at the TED 2009 conference in Long Beach, California, former Vice-President Al Gore featured the July 2008 AIRS carbon dioxide image when talking about the increase in this greenhouse gas.
TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
The annual conference aims to bring together the world's thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes.
Watch the lecture on the TED web site. The AIRS images are displayed at 3:33.
