AIRS Carbon Dioxide Pre-Release Data from 2002 through 2008 Now Available

AIRS Level 3 monthly CO2 retrieval data product in the free troposphere

The pre-release carbon dioxide data set from September 2002 through December 2008 is now available from the Goddard Earth Science Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC). This is the AIRS mid-tropospheric Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Level 3 Monthly Gridded Retrieval, from the AIRS and AMSU instruments on board of Aqua satellite.

Pre-release data are those which were in development at the time of the Collection 5 standard data product release and will be included in the standard data products upon the next release (future Collection 6). The content of the pre-release data product is a subset of the future standard data product, i.e. some users may find it necessary to extract auxiliary fields (for example, temperature profiles) from the Collection 5 standard data products if necessary to support their particular research thrust.

Data Description

AIRS v2.0 Carbon Dioxide monthly average, gridded data

Time Period: September 2002 through December 2008. Product is averaged in time for each calendar month.

Coverage: Global coverage, 60 degrees south to 90 degrees north

Geospatial Resolution: 2 degrees x 2.5 degrees (lat x lon)

Data Format: HDF-EOS Grid
