Q.  Is there a formula to calculate the exact size of the AIRS L1B field
of view?  

A.  Appendix A of this paper shows the calculation which assumes a
spherical Earth and circular AIRS L1B field of view:

The absolutely correct calculation taking into account the true shape
of the Earth, orbital parameters and vignetting of the FOV is much
more complex.
